Malaysia’s journey toward advanced manufacturing and industrial transformation is gaining global traction as the Selangor Techsphere Summit 2025 (STS 2025) opens at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre this week.
Hosted by the Selangor State Government and co-organised by the Selangor Technical Development Corporation (STDC) in strategic partnership with Deutsche Messe, the organiser of Hannover Messe, the summit places Malaysia alongside global leaders in industrial innovation.
More than 2,000 delegates and visitors from over 20 countries are expected to attend the 2-day event, featuring top exhibitors such as Siemens, Mercedes-Benz, KNX, and Festo, and other leading minds in technology, automation, and sustainability.
The summit will explore the future of smart manufacturing, robotics, AI integration, and sustainable industrial frameworks under the theme of “Shaping Malaysia’s Industrial Future.”
A Global Collaboration for Malaysia’s Next Leap
Deutsche Messe’s involvement, through its world-renowned Hannover Messe platform, marks a significant milestone for Malaysia’s industrial ambitions.
Recognised as one of the world’s largest and most influential industrial technology fairs, Hannover Messe has long connected global leaders, industries, and innovators across continents.
By aligning with Hannover Messe, Selangor and Malaysia gain access to a global network of industrial expertise, technology partners, and advanced manufacturing models that have defined the Industry 4.0 movement in Europe and beyond.
Opening the summit, Tim Bostridge, Managing Director of Deutsche Messe, set the stage for two days of dialogue and discovery, shaped around Industry 4.0, sustainability and the convergence of technology and industry.
“Over the next 2 days, we are going to address how Industry X is driving efficient and sustainable operations,” he said.
“We’ll bring to life critical topics such as smart manufacturing, robotics, automation, digital ecosystems, sustainability, and emerging technologies in manufacturing, including the vital role of the research industry.”
Malaysia’s Vision for a Smart Industrial Future
The summit’s conference sessions will feature a lineup of leading international and Malaysian experts, including
- Henrik von Scheel, Architect of Industry 4.0 and Global Industrial Strategist.
- Michael Thavarajah, Principal Engineer at Intel Corporation.
- Datin Ts. Habsah Nordin, Head AI Centre of Excellence, Petronas.
- Tindaro Danze, President & CEO, Head of Digital Industries, Siemens Malaysia.
Discussions will span automation, digital ecosystems, sustainable manufacturing, and workforce transformation, aligning closely with the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 and the Industry4WRD framework.
Attendees will also gain access to HRD Corp-certified training programmes, offering companies a pathway to claim training grants while upskilling their workforce for future-ready industries.
Selangor’s Role as Industrial Catalyst
In his opening remarks, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin Bin Shari, Chief Minister of Selangor, said the summit marks a defining moment for Malaysia’s industrial trajectory
“This is not only a conference, it is a launchpad for opportunities and partnerships,” stated YAB. “Selangor welcomes the world to experience our commitment to advanced manufacturing, clean technology, and skilled talent. We are not waiting for the future. We are shaping it here, together with global partners and Malaysian innovators.”
Deutsche Messe Managing Director Tim Bostridge also acknowledged Malaysia’s potential as a catalyst for digital transformation with its sustainable practices and robust infrastructure.
“Selangor is in a unique position to lead this national transformation,” he said. “With deep roots in manufacturing across key industries, it hosts some of the country’s most critical industrial ecosystems.”
A Launchpad for Global Recognition
As Malaysia assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, the Selangor Techsphere Summit stands as both a showcase and a signal: that Malaysia’s industrial growth is now intertwined with global collaboration and technological excellence.
Through Hannover Messe’s partnership, Selangor cements its position as a regional hub for innovation and industrial advancement, where ideas evolve into real-world solutions, connecting Malaysia to the future of global industry.
