This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aims to support the Government’s efforts in “Driving English Language Excellence”

ELS Language Centres (ELS) is proud to announce the return of the highly-anticipated 2023 ELS English Language Ambassador Award.

This prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aims to support the Government’s efforts in “Driving English Language Excellence” within national schools.

Following an impressive turnout last year, with 19,154 participants from 247 schools across Malaysia, this year’s programme promises to be even more engaging and impactful.

This CSR initiative is a collaboration between the University of Adelaide, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Sunago Education, and Just English.

ELS English Language Ambassador Award is open to Form 4 and Form 5 students in national schools, and comprises two components:
– the Online Writing Course.
– the Essay Writing Competition.

The Online Writing Course, starting from 6 June to 30 August 2023, provides students with a unique opportunity to enhance their writing skills through a comprehensive online curriculum.

The culmination of the programme is the Essay Writing Competition, which takes place from 1 August to 30 August 2023.

Students who complete the Online Writing Course with an overall grade of at least 70% will qualify to participate in the competition.

The grand prize for the deserving winner is will get an extraordinary one-week study tour to the prestigious University of Adelaide in Australia, complete with return economy class tickets and accommodation for the winner and one accompanying parent or official guardian.

“We believe in nurturing the English language skills of our nation’s youth and empowering them for future success,” said ELS Director of Group Strategy and Alliances, Sean Chee.

“The 2023 ELS English Language Ambassador Award not only offers valuable learning opportunities but also serves as a platform for students to showcase their talent and dedication.”

In addition to the grand prize, a host of other attractive rewards awaits the participants.

  • The first runner-up will receive a cash award of RM1,500
  • The second runner-up will be awarded RM750

Cash prizes will be accompanied by trophies, certificates of achievement, co-curricular marks, and one-year subscriptions to Just English Digital Magazine and Digital English Skills Grammar & Vocabulary.

Finalists ranking from 4th to 10th place will also receive trophies, certificates, co-curricular marks, and one-year subscriptions to the digital resources.

Furthermore, schools that demonstrate exceptional levels of student participation will be recognised and rewarded.

The grand champion’s school, along with the top 20 schools in the Online Writing Course, will receive trophies, certificates of achievement, and one-year subscriptions to Just English Digital Magazine and Digital English Skills Grammar & Vocabulary.

To participate in the 2023 ELS English Language Ambassador Award, interested students must be nominated by their English teachers via DELIMa, the national digital learning platform, no later than 18 August 2023.
