Malaysia Welcomes Its First Godzilla Run This January
A Fun, Spirited Run That Brings Together Godzilla Fans, Families And Runners Alike

Stronger together. Proud to gather our partners as we gear up for Malaysia’s first-ever Godzilla Run this January. Fitness, fun and community all in one frame.
Malaysia is about to experience something completely new. On 11 January 2026, Godzilla Run Malaysia will make its debut at Dataran Putrajaya, bringing together runners, families and fans of Japan’s legendary cultural icon.
This is the first time the country is hosting a Godzilla-themed running event, and the excitement has been building ever since registration opened.
The event takes inspiration from Godzilla’s themes of resilience, unity and strength. While the creature is known worldwide for its colossal power, the run focuses on a more meaningful message. It invites Malaysians to celebrate their own inner strength through movement, play and community.
Organised by Element X Strategies in collaboration with TOHO Co. Ltd, the run marks a new milestone for pop culture-themed events in Malaysia. It blends fitness and imagination in a way that appeals to seasoned runners, young children and even those who simply want to experience something fun and different.
An event with something for everyone
Participants can choose from four categories that cater to different fitness levels. There is the 21KM Half Marathon for those seeking a challenge, the 10KM Run, the 5KM Fun Run and the lively 3KM Family Run.
By early December, the event had already recorded close to 4,000 registrations. The 3KM is the most popular category as the public will participate with their family members.
The strong early registrations show that Malaysians are eager for fresh, imaginative lifestyle events that offer a fun, meaningful and unique experience.
The on-ground experience promises to be even more immersive. Runners can expect Godzilla-inspired visual installations, interactive areas and merchandise that bring the world of the famous monster to life.
From photo attractions to themed activities, the event aims to make every step memorable.
Making the event accessible to all
One of the highlights of Godzilla Run Malaysia is its approachable fee structure. Super Early Bird, Early Bird, and Normal rates start from RM35 and increase to RM130, depending on the chosen distance.
Categories include Men’s and Women’s Open, Veteran divisions and family-friendly groups, ensuring that everyone can find a place in the run.
To add to the fun, runners also stand a chance to win exciting prizes during a lucky draw. A GGR Lion G1 electric motorcycle, sponsored by GGR Legacy, is among the exclusive rewards, along with official Godzilla merchandise.
Supporting Malaysia’s growing EV movement
One of the key partners for the event is GGR Legacy, a Malaysian electric motorcycle company that focuses on producing affordable, locally developed EV models. The company recently launched its first model, the Lion G1, and has prototypes for its long-range Pantera R1 and R2 models.
Their involvement aligns with the national push for greener mobility, demonstrating how lifestyle choices can also support broader sustainability goals.
A new space for brands, creators and fans
With an expected turnout between 5,000 and 8,000 people, the run offers meaningful brand opportunities. Sponsorship tiers include positions for Title, Main and Gold sponsors, as well as options for event booths, product sampling, experience zones and corporate team participation.
As the first Godzilla run in Malaysia, the event is attracting interest from both local and international media, including entertainment outlets from Japan. This positions Malaysia as a rising hub for playful, experiential lifestyle events that excite fans across generations.
The run is officially licensed by TOHO Co. Ltd and supported by strong local partners such as:
– Putrajaya Corporation.
– The Ministry of Youth and Sports.
– Car Free Day Malaysia.

– N8 Sports Nutrition.

Their involvement reinforces the run’s mission to promote health, connection and cultural appreciation.
A celebration that goes beyond running
Godzilla Run Malaysia is more than just a themed event. It reflects the growing appetite among Malaysians for fresh ideas that combine fitness, storytelling and memorable experiences. It brings people together to move, play and rediscover the joy of being part of a community.
Most of all, it celebrates the legacy of one of Japan’s most iconic characters. On 11 January, Malaysia will get to experience that world in a fun and meaningful way.
If this is the beginning, the future of creative lifestyle in Malaysia looks incredibly bright.
