Powered by Hannover-Messe, the 4-day Summit is Set to Connect Global Industrial Expertise With Malaysia’s Ambitions in AI, Advanced Manufacturing, Automation and Sustainable Technology for a Second Year with An Expanded Programme

Tim Bostridge, managing director of Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, delivers the welcome address during the opening ceremony of Selangor Techsphere Summit 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
The Selangor Techsphere Summit (STS) returns for its second edition from 14 to 17 October at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, bringing together industry leaders, technology companies and government representatives to explore developments shaping the future of industry in Malaysia and the wider ASEAN region.
Hosted by the Selangor State Government as part of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, STS is delivered in collaboration with the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre (STDC) and powered by HANNOVER MESSE.
The summit aims to connect international industrial expertise with the needs of local businesses, supporting efforts to advance industrial technology and manufacturing capabilities.
For Tim Bostridge, managing director of Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, the summit provides a platform to bring global industrial developments into a local context. He said Malaysia and Selangor were important locations for these developments, given the changes taking place across industry.
“We run events in strategic locations where industry is really being transformed,” Bostridge said.
He explained that the summit brings ideas and themes from major international industry platforms, including the trade fair in Germany, to Malaysia so businesses can understand how these developments apply to their operations.
“And so it’s really taking the themes and topics coming from a leading trade fair like the one in Germany and bringing them here, looking at them in a local context, and understanding how they apply to local businesses and what local businesses can do to really take their own productivity forward,” he said.
This year’s summit has expanded from 2 days in 2025 to 4, marking a broader programme for discussions on the technologies and capabilities shaping the region’s industrial future.
Rather than concentrate on technology alone, the programme covers four core areas of industrial development:
– AI and the digital economy on 14 October.
– Semiconductors and microelectronics on 15 October.
– Green technology and smart automation on 16 October.
– Governance, talent and TVET 4.0 on 17 October.
The expanded programme reflects the range of challenges facing industries as they adapt to technological change, from adopting new systems and strengthening digital capabilities to developing the workforce needed to support them.
By bringing these issues into a single summit, STS aims to spark conversations about global industrial trends and their practicality for businesses in Selangor and Malaysia.
“Each day now focuses on a specific theme, including industrial AI, green technology and human capital,” Bostridge said. “We’re really deep-diving into core topics that are important to the future growth of industry in Malaysia and Selangor.”
The summit also features more than 35 conference sessions and 34 exhibitors, bringing together industry perspectives and technology showcases across areas including AI, automation, digitalisation, sustainability and workforce development.
By combining discussions on emerging technologies with a focus on talent and governance, STS 2026 seeks to provide businesses with a clearer understanding of the developments influencing industrial growth and how they can respond to them.
